Google Page Rank Update
Well it finally happened, the Google Page rank update. Google updated all of my page ranks on all of the sites I manage the search engine optimization for. I am happy to say that none of my page ranks haven fallen and several have gained one or two places.
Google’s last page rank update was in April and many webmasters have been waiting since the last update to reap the rewards of all the hard work they have put in optimizing pages, building quality back links, adding continuous fresh content, and holding their breaths.
I haven’t seen any keyword placement movement since the new Google update but it may take up to two full weeks to see how significant the Google page rank still is to search engines like Yahoo and MSN.
I believe Google page rank is still relevant and will impact millions of websites around the world. The Google page rank is a calculation of various areas of your sites worth and as Google adjust its algorithm to come up with the best possible score for your websites value in the market your are trying to place in again.
Many of you are now seeing page ranks on new sites that have had a score of zero for several months. Others of you have see your great page rank go down, which may hurt your overall placement only time will tell.
I have seen the results of page ranks dropping on Text Link sites due to selling of these links but haven’t seen the punishment Google is said to be giving out to people who purchase these links for their sites. I am sure Google is weighing the cheating factor and grading the sites accordingly.
Now that a new Google page rank has been made, don’t stop optimizing your site planning to wait until the last minute to spam the system. Continue working hard as even more and more competitors are coming online as we speak. Do what’s best for your customer and the search engines usually follow right along.
Good content, placing your links in the right places, and streamlining your met tags will always payoff in the end. Remember in search engine optimization, you have to be patient, be diligent, and know that your are targeting the right keywords and audience for your business.
Until the next big Google update, take care of your business and your business will take care of you.

On the Same Page $21.58 The last time most listeners heard Stefanie Powers even go through the motions of singing was 40 years ago, when she appeared in some unfortunate musical sequences in tandem with Jerry Van Dyke in the comedy Western McLintock! Evidently she does have musical inclinations, which may suit her and her accompanist/arranger/collaborator, Page Cavanaugh, but they only carry her for part of this album. She starts off with the playful “They All Laughed,” with a lilt in her voice that carries Powers past her limited range. She is far more successful on the reflective Rodgers & Hart ballad “He Was Too Good to Me,” from Simple Simon, where she intones every note like it was written for her. She also acquits herself well on the moodier “Where Are You?” and the lighthearted “I’ve Got a Feelin’ You’re Foolin’” (joined by Eddie Collins), and the highlight of the album is “Last Night When We Were Young,” rescued from the obscurity of a lost film called Metropolitan. Powers deserves credit for trying to tackle “Ill Wind,” and further on into the record she transforms herself into a brassier mode on “Ten Cents a Dance.” The dozen songs are done well, though the accompaniment — piano, guitar, bass, and drums — is a little more solid than the singing. Powers isn’t a great singer, though she has a certain charisma as well as a feeling for much of the repertoire, making this record reasonably worthwhile if not nearly essential listening. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi Performers: David Tull – Drums; Jack LeCompte – Drums; John Mayhan – Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone; Larry Koonse – Guitar; Page Cavanaugh – Piano; Phil Mallory – Bass; Stefanie Powers – Vocals |

Turn the Page $11.98 One cannot help but be impressed by the variety on this CD. Guitarist Kenny Carr ranges in style from Larry Carlton and crossover to touches of country music, bluesy jams, and solid straight-ahead jazz. Whenever you think you have this program figured out, Carr throws in another original that contradicts your conclusion. While he uses a core trio with bassist Tom Baldwin and drummer Frank Russo, the guest appearances by organist Jon Dryden and particularly tenor saxophonist Donny McCaslin uplift the music and add a great deal of fire. In the brief liner notes, Carr said that he particularly wanted to highlight the acoustic bass of Tom Baldwin, which he calls a “vital foundation for my melodies.” Baldwin plays fine, but it is Carr, stretching from rockish to introspective, R&B-ish to Wes Montgomery, who is responsible for this continually surprising set’s wide array of personalities. Well worth searching for. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi Performers: Tom Baldwin – Bass (Acoustic); Donny McCaslin – Sax (Tenor); Frank Russo – Drums; John Dryden – Organ; Kenny Carr – Guitar (Synthesizer), Guitar Synth, Piano, Guitar (Acoustic), Keyboards, Guitar |

Page One (Paperback) $28.06 The news media is in the middle of a revolution. Old certainties have been shoved aside by new entities such as WikiLeaks and Gawker, Politico and the Huffington Post. But where, in all this digital innovation, is the future of great journalism? Is there a difference between an opinion column and a blog, a reporter and a social networker? Who curates the news, or should it be streamed unimpeded by editorial influence? Expanding on Andrew Rossi’s “riveting” film (Slate), David Folkenflik has convened some of the smartest media savants to talk about the present and the future of news. Behind all the debate is the presence of the New York Times, and the inside story of its attempt to navigate the new world, embracing the immediacy of the web without straying from a commitment to accurate reporting and analysis that provides the paper with its own definition of what it is there to showcase: all the news that’s fit to print. |

‘Greek’ Thomson: Neo-Classical Architectural Theory, Buildings and Interiors $174.57 Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson is at last being recognised as an architect of genius, comparable in stature to Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Now in paperback, this is the first book in which a team of distinguished architectural commentators and historians use the latest research in the area to illuminate the full range of Thomson’s talents. Thomson emerges not just as a great architect, but as a towering intellect whose theory and practice synthesised the best thought of his time in architectural history, aesthetic philosophy and, not least, theology. With an introduction by the late Sir John Summerson, and over 200 illustrations including an 8-page color section, this volume celebrates the work of arguably the greatest exponent of the Greek Revival. |

…and a Hard Rain Fell $7.64 A magnetic, bloody, moving, and worm’s-eye view of soldiering in Vietnam, an account that is from the first page to last a wound that can never heal. A searing gift to his country. -Kirkus Reviews The classic Vietnam war memoir, …and a hard rain fell is the unforgettable story of a veteran’s rage and the unflinching portrait of a young soldier’s odyssey from the roads of upstate New York to the jungles of Vietnam. Updated for its 20th anniversary with a new afterword on the Iraq War and its parallels to Vietnam, John Ketwig’s message is as relevant today as it was twenty years ago. Solidly effective. He describes with ingenuous energy and authentic language that time and place. -Library Journal Perhaps as evocative of that awful time in Vietnam as the great fictions…a wild surreal account, at its best as powerful as Celine’s darkling writing of World War One. -Washington Post |
