Why Should People Use Appraisal Management Companies?

It has been some time since the newest HVCC rules were instituted for the appraisal industry. In that time, many things have changed. The newest HVCC rules required that almost all transactions pertaining to real estate appraisal be dealt with through an appraisal management company.  Traditionally, appraisal management companies, or AMCs, do not have the best reputation, due to various factors and this has caused some concern for appraisers.  However, due to the law, it is now required that appraisal management companies are dealt with by appraisers for almost every aspect of the job.

The good news is there are benefits for using appraisal management companies.  To use these companies, an appraiser must sign up with one. The first benefit of signing up with an AMC, of course, is to gain steady employment. Due to the economic downturn of the times, it is necessary to find the best possible sources of income and a stay with them. Thanks to the requirement, AMCs can now provide much-needed income that can help people stay within their standard of living.

The second benefit that can be gleaned from signing up with an appraisal management company is the coming influx of more regulations, although a great many appraisers had a hoped for less.  There has been a great deal of protest from appraisers, with petitions. However, the regulatory groups do not seem to be paying any heed to it.  While it is extremely doubtful that any HVCC rulings will be thrown out, all provisions and amendments can be made later.

The third benefit that can be had from signing up with an appraisal management company is that more appraisers are needed.  Due to bankruptcies and strict new education requirements for new appraisers in training, the number of appraisers has dropped dramatically. This number is in the thousands.  These factors combine to leave a deficit of appraisers, leaving AMC’s looking for appraisers to fill their positions. This is good news for the existing appraiser that has need of more income, or the new appraiser-in-training that decides to tough it out through the newer education requirements.

At this current time, it seems that more than 90% of all appraising positions are being handled by appraisal management companies.  This, alone, is reason enough to sign up with an appraisal management company, especially in the economic environment of today. With the volume of business these companies have and the drop in the numbers of appraisers, the odds are good for existing appraisers in the market now.

For the best chance of success, it is wise to sign up with several appraisal management companies at the same time. There are several lists available online with complete listings of appraisal management companies. These sites are easily searched out and signed up with, to get the best options quickly.

While appraisal management companies have not been the favored path of income in the past, they are now a necessary means to use, due to laws.  It is important to remember that use of these companies can mean the support of an appraiser’s family. There is still much that can be gained from them.

With so much suddenly to lose, Josie can’t help but worry when murder invades her seemingly quiet community. Josie is sponsoring the Portsmouth Women’s Guild Annual Black and Gold Gala and is looking forward to receiving a kindly worded thank-you for her efforts. Instead, the Guild representative, Maisy Gaylor, dies a horrible death in the midst of the banquet. Who could have wanted to kill earnest, drab little Maisy? "Funny, isn’t it," muses the hostile Detective Rowcliff, "how a lot of people end up dead when no one has any enemies." Everyone who had access to the wine Maisy drank, including Josie herself, soon comes under suspicion. Can Josie manage to ferret out the truth, keep her business running smoothly, and continue to put down roots in her new town, or will everything prove too much for her to handle on her own?

Appraisal Processes in Emotion: Theory, Methods, Research

Appraisal Processes in Emotion: Theory, Methods, Research

$115.48

The scientific study of emotion has long been dominated by theories emphasizing the subjective experience of emotions and their accompanying expressive and physiological responses. The processes by which different emotions are elicited has received less attention, the implicit assumption being that certain emotions arise automatically in response to certain types of events or situations. Such an assumption is incompatible with data showing that similar situations can provoke a range of emotions in different individuals, or even the same individual at different times. Appraisal theory, first suggested by Magda Arnold and Richard Lazarus, was formulated to address this shortcoming in our understanding of emotion. The central tenet of appraisal theory is that emotions are elicited according to an individual’s subjective interpretation or evaluation of important events or situations. Appraisal research focuses on identifying the evaluative dimensions or criteria that predict which emotion will be elicited in an individual, as well as linking the appraisal process with the production of emotional responses. This book represents the first full-scale summary of the current state of appraisal research. Separate sections cover the history of apraisal theory and its fundamental ideas, the views of some of the major theorists currently active in the field, theoretical and methodological problems with the appraisal approach including suggestions for their resolution, social, cultural and individual differences and the application of appraisal theory to understanding and treating emotional pathology, and the methodology used in appraisal research including measuring and analyzing self-report, physiological, facial, and vocal indicators of appraisal, and simulating appraisal processes via computational models. Intended for advanced students and researchers in emotion psychology, it provides an authoritative assessment and critique of the current state of the art in appraisal research.
